Book your stay at the Tolovana Roadhouse

Overview

The Tolovana Roadhouse is a remote, off-grid lodge located on the northern shore of the Tanana River, just south of the Minto Flats Wildlife Refuge. Approximately fifty miles by trail from Nenana in the winter, the Roadhouse offers visitors a chance to experience the incredible wilderness of interior Alaska while staying in one of the last remaining roadhouses from Alaska’s Gold Rush era – a true piece of living history.

The lodge and cabin are heated with firewood. The common room holds a simple kitchen with a propane range, basic cookware and dishes, and a large table & chairs for shared meals. Firewood and propane are provided. Water must be melted or hauled. A shared outhouse is available a short walk from the lodge and cabin.

Visitors are responsible for their own transportation to the roadhouse. The trail is appropriate for snowmachine, dog team, ski and fat-bike. Trailheads are available in Nenana (50 miles) Manley Hot Springs (30 miles) and via the Dunbar Trail from Ester/Goldstream (65+). A landing strip is available for ski-planes later in the season. Current trail information will be provided with your reservation. The roadhouse can be accessed in the summer via the Tanana River from Nenana or Manley Hot Springs.

The common room is open to all trail travelers, and remains unlocked at all times. We ask that anyone utilizing the roadhouse common room for this purpose consider making a donation towards its preservation. While group rentals of the entire roadhouse are available, the open door policy remains in effect.
