Welcome to the Historic Tolovana Roadhouse

Located at the confluence of the Tanana and Tolovana rivers

The Tolovana Roadhouse, built in 1924, is one of the last original roadhouses along the Nenana-Nome mail route from a time when dog team delivery was the region’s primary connection to the outside world. It is a rustic testament to the rich history of interior Alaska and remains a landmark and shelter for backcountry travelers.

The Roadhouse holds true to its roots as an authentic, welcoming outpost in the wilderness. Accessible only by traveling the trails or rivers that first served as thoroughfares into the interior, the main lodge continues to provide a warm, safe haven for the trail-weary and a place for adventurers to soak in the solitude and beauty of the surrounding wilderness. Visitors have the unique opportunity to experience this incredible piece of living history.
