Location
The Tolovana Roadhouse is a remote, off-grid lodge without road access. Amenities are limited. The main building includes a common room and two bunk rooms which are heated separately. The common room holds a simple kitchen with a propane range, basic cookware and dishes, and a large table & chairs for shared meals.
The lodge and cabin are heated with firewood. Water must be melted or hauled. A shared outhouse is available a short walk from the lodge and cabin. At this time, fuel is not provided and independent travelers must plan to haul their own fuel and replace any firewood used. The bunk rooms contain beds for up to seven (3x twin + 1x full/1x queen).
A small, separate cabin with a full size bed is also available. Linens are not provided. Most cell carriers do not have service, and internet is not available. Trails are irregularly maintained, and travel can be hazardous. The nearest definitive emergency medical care is in Fairbanks, and evacuation can be delayed for hours to days depending on weather conditions. Plan accordingly.
